How to Change Equipment?
It is possible for Tankers to own multiple pieces of equipment, and from which the dream tank is freely assembled. In battles where the situation develops rapidly, it is best to gain a sizeable advantage over others by selecting the most suitable equipment for the battle.
To access and change your equipment, you must first enter the Garage.
Note that in some PRO Battles, the option to change equipment is disabled, meaning that you can only change your gear before entering the battle. For other battles with the option enabled, it is possible to change equipment within the battle every 15 minutes. The cooldown is applied separately per equipment type, meaning that you can change a Turret, a hull and a paint at the same time.
Guide to Changing Turrets
While in battle, you may encounter enemies with paints that protect them from your attacks. To avoid using these turrets ineffectively, follow these steps:
- Check their profile history to make sure they do not own paints that have strong protection against your equipped turret.
- If your team has weak gear, try to target enemies who did not equip paints with protection against your equipped turret. They will ignore your teammates and focus on you, which will allow your teammates to take advantage of the situation and capture flags/points, resulting in victory.
Guide to Changing Hulls
Usually, some hulls are more effective than others in facing different situations. For example, it is ideal to equip a heavy hull instead of a light hull in compact maps. For this reason, it is essential to change hulls to boost your performance in battle.
The type of hull you equip determines your objectives and playstyle in battle, some of which are listed below:
Wasp / Hornet: Use them in CTF / CP to capture the enemy flag/point as quickly as possible, if you believe your teammates can defend your flag/point.
Viking / Hunter: Use them in CTF / CP / TDM / DM as intermediate hulls between other hulls. The exception is the Viking, which lacks height.
Dictator: Use it in CTF / CP / TDM / DM as an intermediate tank between others. Its height makes it the best choice for hunting Gold boxes.
Titan / Mammoth: Use both of them in CTF / CP primarily for defending a flag/point. Ensure your team has attackers because the battle may take a long time without them.
Guide to Changing Paints
Many paints contain protection against other turrets, and by equipping a paint with good protection against as many enemies' turrets as possible, the damage enemies do to you decreases drastically. For this reason, enemies will usually target those that lack protection against their turrets, or change turrets so that their protections render ineffective. The following tips may help:
- Equipping paints with protection may change the interaction of a specific turret on your tank in favour of you, while some may not. For example, by equipping Thunder protection, it is only possible to destroy Hunter with at least 4 Thunder shots, increasing the time the tanker can use for defence. However, even with medium Firebird protection, it is still difficult to survive a prolonged Firebird attack.
- Be patient and do not change your paint as soon as you see an enemy using a turret that your current paint does not protect you from. They can equip another turret immediately; you may regret it later.
- Contact your teammates and ask if they have any useful paints that can be used in the battle. This will not give your enemies a chance and make it hard for them to make decisions for a change.
- If in doubt and you have Premium account active, consider using Premium paint. It has 15% Protection against all Turrets. This will always weaken the damage you take from enemies irrespective of their turret choice.
Self Destruction
After you return to the battle upon successfully changing your equipment, your tank will automatically self-destruct after 3 seconds. After self-destruction, the changes made in the garage will be applied to your tank, and the message "PLAYER_NICKNAME has changed equipment" will appear in the battle log in the upper right corner. Note that you will not be penalized for changing equipment, and your kills/deaths/score will remain as-is.
If you did not change any equipment that changes the combination of your tank, such as only purchasing Supplies within the Garage, you can immediately continue within the battle without self-destructing.
